How to choose a keyboard and mouse for work and study
You touch a keyboard and mouse thousands of times a day. The real difference is not the lighting or a sensitivity number, but clear Arabic letters, a connection that suits your devices, and a shape that keeps your hand and wrist comfortable after hours.
If you type in Arabic and English, the first thing to look for is a keyboard with Arabic letters printed or etched at the factory, not stickers that peel after a few months. Read the layout name in the product title: "Arabic" or "AR", or "US" or "UK". The UK layout differs from the US one in the Enter key's shape and some symbol positions, and someone used to one trips over the other. Look at the photo of the actual keyboard, not the generic product image, because many models are sold in different layouts under the same name.
In Windows you can add an Arabic input language and switch between it and English with the Windows key plus Space, or Alt plus Shift, as Microsoft explains. But letters printed on the keys are what really make it easy, especially for children and older family members.
What actually makes the difference
Keyboard size. A full-size keyboard with a number pad helps accounting and number entry. A compact one without it leaves room for the mouse and keeps your hand closer, so your shoulder reaches less. Choose by your work, not the look.
Key type and noise. Low-profile (scissor) keys are quiet and close to a laptop keyboard. Mechanical keys are satisfying to type on but some are loud, which bothers a shared office or a home at night. There are also mice with silent clicks for working next to others.
Connection. A cable needs no charging and has no lag. A 2.4 GHz wireless receiver is easy and stable but takes a USB-A port your newer laptop may not have. Bluetooth needs no receiver and connects to phone and tablet, and some models switch between three devices with a button. Logitech, for example, explains that its Logi Bolt receiver is built on Bluetooth Low Energy and does not work with the older Unifying receiver, so do not assume one receiver serves every accessory from a brand.
OS compatibility. Some keyboards are made for Mac with Command and Option keys, others for Windows. Most work with both, but the printed shortcuts matter day to day. The maker's customisation app may not run on every OS.
Battery. AA batteries last long and are easy to replace; a rechargeable battery saves buying them but needs a cable. Check the charging port, ideally USB-C.
Mouse shape and your hand size. OSHA's workstation guide advises choosing a pointing device that fits the hand that uses it, placing it so the wrist stays straight, and setting sensitivity so you control it with a light touch. There are left-handed mice, and vertical mice for people with wrist complaints.
Sensitivity (DPI). Big numbers matter more for gaming than for office work. For office use any modern mouse is enough; shape, the wheel and side buttons matter more if you use them.
The practical options

Sensible choice
What you give up
Student with a laptop and phone
A compact Bluetooth keyboard that switches devices, and a small mouse
The number pad
Accounting or data entry
A full keyboard with numbers and a comfortable wired or receiver mouse
Desk space
Long hours or wrist pain
A vertical or hand-sized mouse, and a low keyboard
Time to get used to the new shape
A family computer and older users
A simple wireless set with clear Arabic letters
Extra features and customisation
Comfort and posture
OSHA's guide advises placing the keyboard directly in front of you, at a distance that keeps your elbows close to your body and forearms roughly parallel to the floor, and adjusting its tilt so your wrists stay straight. Raised keyboard feet are not always better; try both. Put the mouse right next to the keyboard at the same height, not at the far edge of the desk.
What matters in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf
Factory Arabic letters. Check the actual keyboard photo and the word "Arabic" in the model number or description.
Warranty. Ask about the in-Kingdom warranty, especially for expensive sets that would need replacing rather than repairing.
Heat. Do not leave a rechargeable mouse or keyboard in the car in summer, and take AA batteries out if the device will be stored for a long time so they do not leak.
Common mistakes
Ordering an "Arabic/English" keyboard and receiving an English-only layout because the photo was generic.
Buying a set with a USB-A receiver for a laptop that only has USB-C, without an adapter.
Choosing a very small mouse for a large hand because it is lighter in the bag, then wrist pain after a few weeks.
A loud mechanical keyboard in a shared office.
Before you pay
Check the printed Arabic letters and the layout in the actual photo.
Choose the size by your work: with or without a number pad.
Match the connection to your computer's ports and your other devices.
Confirm OS compatibility, the battery type and charging.
Pick a mouse that fits your hand, left-handed if you need it.
