هذه أغراض يومية صغيرة يشتريها المرء لنفسه بسعر بسيط: كابل، حامل للجوال، منظّم للكابلات، حافظة للسفر، أداة مطبخ. لا نذكر هنا أي سعر، لأن سعر المنتج نفسه على أمازون يتغير من يوم لآخر ومن بائع لآخر؛ الرقم الذي يُحتسب هو المعروض في صفحة المنتج وقت الدفع، ومعه الشحن إن وُجد. ما لا يتغير هو ما يجب أن تقرأه قبل أن تضيف الغرض إلى السلة، وهو موضوع هذا الدليل.
الغلط في غرض رخيص خسارته صغيرة، لكنه يتكرر: كابل لا يشحن بالسرعة التي توقعتها، أو حامل لا يثبت على فتحة المكيف في سيارتك، أو حافظة لا يدخلها الشاحن الذي تحمله. لكل غرض أدناه سطر أو سطران بما تتحقق منه، مرتبة بحسب مكان الاستعمال: الجوال، السيارة، البيت والمكتب، ثم السفر.
للجوال
كابل USB-C إلى USB-C. تشترط USB-IF وسم كابلات USB-C إلى USB-C المعتمدة بقدرة 60 واط أو 240 واط. كابل 60 واط يكفي عادة للجوال والجهاز اللوحي، أما اللابتوب الذي يطلب أكثر من ذلك فيحتاج كابلًا معلَّمًا بقدرة أعلى. تأكد أن الطرفين USB-C فعلًا لا USB-A في أحدهما، واختر الطول الذي تحتاجه: متر يكفي بجانب السرير، ومتران إذا كان المقبس بعيدًا. الكابل المغلّف بالنايلون يتحمل الثني أكثر، لكن الغلاف وحده لا يخبرك بقدرته.
حامل جوال للمكتب. اقرأ مدى مقاسات الشاشات الذي يذكره الصانع، وقارنه بمقاس جوالك مع الغطاء لا بدونه. تحقق أن الحامل لا يسد منفذ الشحن إذا كنت ستشحن الجوال وهو عليه، وأن زاوية الميل تتعدل بالقدر الذي تحتاجه للقراءة أو لمكالمات الفيديو. الحامل القابل للطي أسهل في الحقيبة، والمعدني الثقيل أثبت على المكتب.
للسيارة
حامل جوال لفتحة المكيف. فتحات المكيف تختلف بين السيارات: شرائح أفقية أو عمودية أو فتحات دائرية. اقرأ نوع الفتحة التي صُمم الحامل ليثبت عليها قبل الشراء، فالمشبك الذي يناسب الشرائح الأفقية قد لا يمسك الفتحة الدائرية أبدًا.
مشابك أم مغناطيس. الحامل المغناطيسي يحتاج صفيحة معدنية تلصقها على الجوال أو الغطاء، وقد تعيق الشحن اللاسلكي. الحامل بالمشابك لا يحتاجها، لكنه قد يضغط على أزرار جانب الجوال في بعض الموديلات؛ قارن موضع المشابك بموضع الأزرار في جوالك.
المكان والحرارة. ضع الحامل حيث لا يغطي جزءًا من الزجاج الأمامي ولا يحجب عداد السرعة، ولا تمسك الجوال أثناء القيادة. إذا شغّلت التدفئة شتاءً فالهواء الخارج من الفتحة يسخّن الجوال، وفي الصيف لا تتركه على الحامل والسيارة واقفة في الشمس.
للبيت والمكتب
مشابك لتنظيم الكابلات. قارن عرض فتحة المشبك بسماكة الكابلات التي ستضعها فيه، واقرأ نوع اللاصق والسطح الذي يناسبه: الخشب المطلي والزجاج والبلاستيك لا تتصرف بالطريقة نفسها. اللاصق القوي قد يترك أثرًا إذا نزعته لاحقًا.
أربطة لاصقة قابلة لإعادة الاستخدام. الأربطة ذات الشريط اللاصق الخشن والناعم تُفك وتُربط مرة بعد مرة، بخلاف الأربطة البلاستيكية التي تُقص. اقرأ طول الرباط وعرضه، وتأكد أنه يلف حزمة الكابلات التي عندك لا كابلًا واحدًا فقط.
منظّم لسطح المكتب. قِس المساحة المتاحة على المكتب أو داخل الدرج قبل الشراء، واكتب ما ستضعه فيه فعلًا: أقلام، مقص، شاحن، سماعات. عدد الخانات وأبعاد كل خانة أهم من الشكل الخارجي.
أداة مطبخ من السيليكون. اقرأ أقصى حرارة يذكرها الصانع وقارنها بطريقة طبخك، فالمقلاة الساخنة أعلى حرارة من القِدر. الأداة المصبوبة قطعة واحدة أسهل في التنظيف لأنها بلا فراغ بين الرأس والمقبض يتجمع فيه الطعام، وتحقق هل يذكر الصانع أنها تناسب غسالة الصحون.
أداة تنظيف الشاشات. تنصح Apple باستعمال قطعة قماش ناعمة خالية من الوبر، وبعدم رش المنظف مباشرة على الجهاز، وبتجنب البخاخات والمبيّضات والمواد الكاشطة، وبعدم إدخال الرطوبة في أي فتحة. اختر طقمًا يأتي بقماش من الألياف الدقيقة، ورش المحلول على القماش لا على الشاشة، وارجع إلى تعليمات صانع جهازك قبل أول استعمال.
للسفر
حافظة صغيرة للكابلات والشواحن. قِس أكبر قطعة ستحملها فيها، عادة الشاحن أو بنك الطاقة، وقارنها بالأبعاد الداخلية التي يذكرها الصانع لا الخارجية. الحافظة الصلبة تحمي ما بداخلها من الضغط في الحقيبة، والقماشية أخف وتتسع أكثر.
إذا وضعت فيها بنك طاقة. بحسب إرشادات IATA، يُعامل بنك الطاقة كبطارية احتياطية تُحمل في حقيبة اليد لا في الحقيبة المشحونة، مع حماية أطرافها من التماس. فالحافظة التي فيها بنك طاقة مكانها حقيبة اليد، وتحقق من شروط شركة الطيران التي ستسافر معها.
حاملة لمتتبّع المفاتيح. الحاملات مصممة لشكل متتبّع بعينه، فتأكد أنها تناسب الموديل الذي عندك. اقرأ طريقة التثبيت، حلقة مفاتيح أم حزام، وهل يمكنك فتح غطاء بطارية المتتبّع دون أن تكسر الحاملة.

A cable, a stand, an organiser, a travel case, a kitchen tool: small things at a low price where the same mistakes repeat. Here is what to check in each before it goes in your basket.
Before you start: the price moves, what you read does not
These are small everyday things people buy for themselves at a low price: a cable, a phone stand, a cable organiser, a travel case, a kitchen tool. No price appears here, because the same product's price on Amazon changes from day to day and from seller to seller; the figure that counts is the one on the product page when you pay, plus any shipping. What does not change is what to read before you add the item to your basket, and that is what this guide is about.
A mistake on a cheap item costs little, but it repeats: a cable that does not charge at the speed you expected, a holder that will not grip your car's air vent, a case your charger does not fit into. Each item below has a line or two on what to check, grouped by where you use it: the phone, the car, home and desk, then travel.
For the phone
A USB-C to USB-C cable. USB-IF requires certified USB-C to USB-C cables to carry a 60W or 240W power marking. A 60W cable is usually enough for a phone or a tablet; a laptop that asks for more needs a cable marked for more. Check that both ends really are USB-C, not USB-A at one end, and choose the length you need: one metre by the bed, two if the socket is far away. A braided cable survives bending better, but the braid tells you nothing about its rating.
A desk phone stand. Read the range of screen sizes the maker states and compare it with your phone in its case, not without it. Check that the stand does not block the charging port if you will charge on it, and that the tilt adjusts as far as you need for reading or video calls. A folding stand travels better; a heavy metal one sits steadier on a desk.
For the car
An air-vent phone holder. Vents differ between cars: horizontal slats, vertical slats or round vents. Read which kind the holder is designed to clip onto before you buy; a clip made for horizontal slats may not hold a round vent at all.
Clamps or a magnet. A magnetic holder needs a metal plate stuck to the phone or its case, which can get in the way of wireless charging. A clamp holder needs no plate but can press the side buttons on some phones; compare where the clamps sit with where your buttons are.
Placement and heat. Put the holder where it covers no part of the windscreen and does not hide the speedometer, and do not hold the phone while driving. With the heater on in winter, the air from the vent warms the phone; in summer, do not leave it on the holder while the car is parked in the sun.
For home and the desk
Cable clips. Compare the width of the clip's slot with the thickness of the cables you will put in it, and read which adhesive it uses and which surface it suits: painted wood, glass and plastic do not behave the same. A strong adhesive can leave a mark if you remove it later.
Reusable hook-and-loop ties. Hook-and-loop ties open and close again and again, unlike plastic zip ties that have to be cut. Read the length and width of a tie, and make sure it wraps the bundle of cables you actually have, not a single cable.
A desk organiser. Measure the space on the desk or inside the drawer before buying, and list what you will really put in it: pens, scissors, a charger, earphones. The number of compartments and the size of each matter more than the outside shape.
A silicone kitchen tool. Read the maximum temperature the maker states and compare it with how you cook; a hot frying pan runs hotter than a pot. A tool moulded in one piece is easier to clean, because there is no gap between head and handle for food to collect in. Check whether the maker says it is dishwasher safe.
A screen-cleaning kit. Apple advises a soft, lint-free cloth, not spraying cleaner directly onto the device, avoiding aerosol sprays, bleaches and abrasives, and keeping moisture out of every opening. Choose a kit that comes with a microfibre cloth, spray the solution on the cloth rather than the screen, and read your device maker's instructions before the first use.
For travel
A small case for cables and chargers. Measure the largest thing you will carry in it, usually the charger or the power bank, and compare it with the inside dimensions the maker states, not the outside ones. A hard case protects what is inside from pressure in a bag; a fabric one is lighter and holds more.
If a power bank goes in it. Under IATA's guidance a power bank counts as a spare battery: it travels in carry-on baggage, not checked baggage, with its terminals protected from short circuit. So a case holding a power bank belongs in your hand luggage; check the rules of the airline you are flying with as well.
A holder for a key finder. Holders are shaped for one particular tracker, so make sure it fits the model you have. Read how it attaches, a key ring or a strap, and whether you can open the tracker's battery cover without breaking the holder.
