Get ready for White Friday: a no-regret buying plan
The best White Friday deal is decided weeks before: when you know what you need, what it cost before the season, and the terms of the code and the return. Here is a simple plan that starts today.
Regret after the sales season has familiar causes: buying something you never planned because the percentage was big, discovering the before price was higher than usual, a code that did not apply, an order that arrived weeks late, or a return policy tighter than normal. All of these can be avoided with a simple plan that starts before the season, not on the day of the offer.
The plan in stages
When
What to do
Why
Weeks before the season
Write a needs list and budget; save products and turn on price alerts
To know the usual price before the red banners start
Days before the season
Review the stores you plan to use, their return policies, and your saved codes
To decide where to buy before the pressure of the day
On the day
Compare prices with your record, check the licence, review the summary before paying
To buy only what you planned, at a price you know
After buying
Keep invoices, note delivery dates and return periods
To use your rights if an order is late or does not suit you
Before the season: a list and a price record
A needs list, not a wish list. Write what you actually need in the coming months: a device due for replacement, winter essentials, a planned gift. Set a ceiling for each item.
Save products on WESH and turn on alerts. On the Products page you can save a product and ask for an alert if its price drops below a figure you set. The alert tells you a price we saw; the final price is the one on the store's page at checkout.
Take dated screenshots. A picture of the product page at its usual price is what you compare the before price with on the day. The real-discount guide explains how to read an offer.
Save codes early. Follow the Coupons page and the codes of the week, save the coupons for stores on your list, and read their terms and end dates.
On the day: three checks before paying
The licence. The Ministry of Commerce requires a store to obtain a discount licence before announcing, to display it so consumers can verify it by scanning its barcode, and to show prices before and after on the price tag. Look for the barcode on the offers page and scan it.
The code in the summary. After adding the code and choosing payment, check the discount shows as its own line and the total is what you expected. Details in the guide to checking a discount code.
The return policy during offers. The Ministry's controls require stores to disclose it. Some stores narrow returns in the season; read it before paying.
If you are considering instalments, put all your existing instalments in one list before adding a new one; see the buy now, pay later guide.
Common season mistakes
Filling the basket the night before and paying without a review, so items whose price changed or whose variant sold out slip in.
Buying the older model because its percentage is bigger, without comparing it with the newer model after its discount.
Spreading orders across many stores, making deliveries and return periods hard to track.
Breaking the budget for "free shipping above a threshold" by adding something that was not on the list.
Beware of fake offer links
In the season, messages multiply offering a "once-only deal" with a link to a page that looks like a well-known store. Open the store from its app or by typing its address yourself, not from a link in a message. The Ministry of Commerce reminds consumers that it never asks for card numbers, passwords or verification codes. You can check any online store you do not know through the Saudi Business Center inquiry.
After buying: your rights still stand
Season pressure sometimes delays delivery. The E-Commerce Law gives the consumer the right to cancel if delivery is delayed more than fifteen days from the contract or the agreed date, unless otherwise agreed, and a seven-day cancellation right from receipt with its conditions and exceptions. Details are in the returns and exchanges guide, and the official text on the day of your problem is what counts. For any misleading offer, complain through the Balagh Tijari app or 1900.
Your season list
I have a needs list with a ceiling for each item.
I saved products and turned on price alerts before the season.
I have dated screenshots of usual prices.
I saved codes and read their terms and dates.
I check the discount licence and the return policy before paying.
I open stores from their apps, not from links in messages.
I kept invoices and noted delivery dates and return periods.
